Kenan Oktay specializes in helping students of all ages and backgrounds discover and express their natural voice in the most efficient way possible, which they can apply to any musical genre or vocal field. He has helped singers achieve in their first lesson things they have not been able to accomplish even after years of prior vocal training. His students come from such diverse paths as jazz, American Songbook, opera, oratorio, musical theater, a cappella, pop, R&B, and country.
The Vocathletic System is surprisingly simple, direct and effective. It explains the whats, hows and whys of vocalization in a manner easily understood and immediately put into practice with unequivocal results. It incorporates vocal and athletic principles, and applies precise execution skills to vocalization.
Kenan Oktay is a 21-year-old American tenor based in Boston, USA. As a complete beginner without any classical or operatic background, he began studying with baritone Bülent Güneralp in April 2023, quickly developed a passion for classical singing and, after only 10 months of training and an amazing transformation, auditioned for and was invited to perform at the 2024 Lanzarote Opera Festival and Academy in Spain. After returning to the US, Kenan started his own Kenan Oktay Voice Studio, sharing with his students The Vocathletic System developed by Bülent Güneralp.
Kenan is in his last year at Tufts University studying International Relations and French. He is actively performing on campus with the Tufts Opera Ensemble program and the Amalgamates acapella group. He is excited to graduate this spring and continue to learn and grow vocally and musically.
